Many of the 2013 runways are featuring soft, flowing folds of fabric in skirting, sleeves, and everywhere in between.  Frills are an ultra-femme way to pump up the volume on your bridal gown or even decor.

Magnolia trees are one of the South’s most treasured natural gifts, and we love how we’re seeing the big white or ombre pink blooms cropping up in wedding bouquets, in table runners, even in chandelier designs!  Whether you’re using a single flower or grouping some of the large, flat leaves with other florals, we love these sweet-smelling blossoms.

With daffodils and tulips blooming everywhere, it’s easy to be inspired by spring’s sunny disposition.  Golden hued yellow is such a lovely color palette choice, whether you keep it clean and bright, pairing it with crisp white, or whether you like a more amber color paired with stormy grays.

Eyelet, lace’s pretty sister, has been steadily making a comeback on runways, in gowns, and in tabletop decor.  Eyelet details bring such a dainty, ladylike quality to any wedding. We love it in pure white or in spring’s colors of the moment: pastels.

Color Me Beautiful: Spring Pastels

Spring is peeking through in pale blue skies and soft pink and yellow blooms, so naturally we have pastels on the brain.  A pastel palette works beautifully when one hue is paired with a bolder color or a metallic, or go ultra-femme and group your pastels with lace.

A Charleston Spring Brunch featured in The Local Palate

I was thrilled to be asked by The Local Palate to be a contributor for the April Issue. Not only do I love this publication, but I am a bit enchanted with the topic at hand – how to host a spring brunch.  I love gathering my nearest and dearest for lingering afternoons full of laughter and stories. I find the trick to a successful brunch is setting a lovely and cozy table paired with a heart warming menu and a festive spring cocktail.

We especially enjoyed developing this story at our boutique hotel in Charleston, S.C.,  Zero George. I recommend picking up a copy of the magazine as it is full of fresh southern food trends and “in the know” regional recommendations.

More of the story and some of my entertaining tips are shared below… Cheers to the first official day of Spring!

Sometimes it’s best to return to what is simple, what is pure.  And elegant white blooms can do no wrong in our opinion.  With an all-white bouquet or table arrangement, it’s the perfect opportunity to showcase various textures and greenery.  Whether you’re adding in lots of color elsewhere or keeping your palette all ivory, white florals are just gorgeous.
