Real Wedding Wednesday: Isabelle and Mike’s Tuckahoe Plantation Wedding

Isabelle and Mike were married at Tuckahoe Plantation, outside of Richmond, Virginia. Tuckahoe has a special meaning to Isabelle as Tuckahoe has been in her family for generations. The grounds were in full bloom and the day was picture perfect!

Guests cocktailed within the boxwood gardens and then continued celebrating in a 6 peak Sperry tent. Ribbon chandeliers were handmade to illuminate the tent ceiling. The wedding emblem found its way into everything from the Groom and Groomsmen evening slippers, the gift totes, to the flags on the tent. This was truly one of favorite weddings on all accounts… the couple…the venue…and the MOB!

With New York Fashion Week behind us, many new trends and styles are making their way into Fall 2012 designs. We are excited to see how these new fashion trends will influence weddings this year. One prominent statement made at NYFW was the roaring twenties and the return of flapper girls and art deco inspired decor. From sequined layers to feathered head wraps, Daisy Buchanan is making her comeback. The Great Gatsby is influencing many aspects of the runway and the legend of flapper girls are returning as trendsetters in fashion and decor.

Forget Me Not Friday: A Wedding Tradition

Easton Events Something old, Something new, Something borrowed, Something blue, and a sixpence in her shoe.

Everyone is familiar with this Old English rhyme that is often heard on ones wedding day. These objects act as good luck tokens for the bride and can be found in many forms!

Something Old: Continuity with the bride’s family and the past. A grandmother’s peal necklace to an old piece of lace.

Something New: Optimism and hope for the bride’s new life ahead. A pair of silk gloves to a new diamond.

Something Borrowed: Good luck from a happily married friend or family member with the hope that their fortune will carry over. A mother’s veil to a best friends purse.

Something Blue: A symbol of faithfulness, purity, and loyalty. A blue monogram inside a wedding gown to blue flowers in the bridal bouquet.

A sixpence in her shoe: A symbol of prosperity and good fortune. For best results place the British coin in the bride’s shoe.

Real Wedding Wednesday: Blair and Luke’s Valentine Inspired Wedding

Blair has always loved the combination of red, pink, and white! From styled blogs to interior spaces, she gathered inspiration and always dreamed of having her own wedding follow this fresh color palette. Blair and Luke were married at the bride’s childhood home in Lynchburg, Virginia. The ceremony took place in her backyard. As guests walked to their seats they passed Blair’s childhood play house and warmed their spirits with a cup of hot apple cider for the brisk autumn day! Shades of red and pink were laced through all of the details. From the printed material suite to the tent border and drum shades to even the departure confetti, we carried her signature colors throughout! Our favorite surprise of the evening: the 18′ heart for Blair and Luke! We loved working with the bride, the groom, and the ENTIRE family! It is an amazingly personal experience to plan a wedding at a family’s home, and the Sanzone’s made it exceptionally welcoming and wonderful every step of the way!

With the Grammy Awards airing last night, we are just brimming with red carpet fashion inspiration from some of Hollywood’s most beautiful starlets. After watching gown after gown traipse by the flashing cameras, we couldn’t help but notice a trend. The high-necked gown is back! We love how the dresses donned by Adele, Taylor Swift, and many others cover up just a bit more while still embracing a feminine, alluring shape. We found some gorgeous gowns for bride and bridesmaid alike that feature this neckline, including the classic wedding dress of Grace Kelly.

Forget Me Not Friday: Wedding Registry

Creating a wedding registry is fun and exciting! As you begin your new life together there are many decisions to make, from your wedding rings to the decor of your new home. Today we are sharing tips for setting up a wedding registry.

When should you set up a wedding registry? Close friends and family members may want to give you a gift right after your engagement. We recommend registering at least a few items early on for those who wish to purchase an engagement gift. Don’t feel like you need to register all of your items at one time, you can always add items in the future. One month before your engagement party or six months before your wedding is the ideal time frame to set up a registry.

How many registries should you have? We recommend two to three stores that you absolutely love. By keeping the list short you have less to keep up with and manage. Try to register at one of the large department stores that sells all types of merchandise as well as offering an online shop. If your favorite store does not have an existing registry program, ask if they will set up something for you.

How do you let your guests know you are registered? Etiquette says you should not include registry information on your wedding invitation. Rely on your family and friends to spread the word. For example if your friend is throwing you a shower it is common for her to include this information on the invitation. You can also include information regarding your registry on your wedding website.

How many items should you register? We recommend having enough options so guests can choose between two or three items. The general rule of thumb is to double the number of guests you are inviting to your wedding. Make sure that one third of your items are under fifty dollars. You want your guests to feel comfortable buying a gift they can afford.

Remember to send thank you notes within one month of your wedding!

Real Wedding Wednesday became Real Wedding Thursday this week as we were away on a corporate event!

Erin and Jeffrey were married in Grace Episcopal Church and celebrated their marriage at Keswick Hall. Their wedding was the full package: stunning bride, dashing groom, lovely bridal party, adorable dog, show stopping gold ceiling drape, and the glow of a full moon. The tent was truly stunning. The three different tones of golden yellow tablecloths topped with lush florals beautifully contrast the dramatic warmth of the tent ceiling. The printed suite was a collection of stunning calligraphy throughout the invitation, the program, and the menu. Check out Erin’s floral applique veil… isn’t it spectacular? Patricia Lyons beautifully captured the sheer joy of the couple!

Forget Me Not Friday: Using Pinterest

We are loving Pinterest at Easton Events! Not only is the site a source of constant inspiration, you can also use Pinterest as a place for storing your favorite online images. Forget the days of cutting out magazine photos. We now we have a place to post and share ideas with others all through the click of the “pin it” button.

Whether you wish to “re-pin” an image from another Pinterest user or “pin” an image from a blog or tumblr page, you can create your own pin boards with different categories. We have been encouraging our brides to create their own accounts. This way we can access inspiration for their big day. You can create boards to organize all aspects of your wedding day. For example make a ”possible hairstyles” and “wedding dress” board. Brides can spend time on wedding blogs and “pin” ideas they loved from featured real weddings. How about the wedding invitation calligraphy or the escort card display you loved? Pin inspiration and stay organized!

We are currently working on a Valentines Day inspired board! As we surf the web we are keeping our eye out for pink and red inspiration!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Lieutenant Matthew & Colleen

Winter 2011 This past November Matt and Colleen were married at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and celebrated in Keswick Hall. In true U.S Navy tradition the couple walked through a sword arch, cut their wedding cake with a sword, and pushed the groom’s face into his own cake! Matt and Colleen really wanted to throw a great party for their friends and family. With an energetic band and a gag gift of aviator sunglasses the guests had a ball!
