There’s nothing sweeter than ending your wedding with a grand sendoff, leaving your guests with a small gift by which to remember the evening.  Whether it’s yours and your beau’s favorite childhood snack, your grandmother’s famous jam, or a small plant from your homestate, favors can be the perfect way to wrap up your wedding with a thoughtful touch.  And with so much thought going into your invitation and paper suite, we love that the same care is taken with the packaging of these dainty parting gifts.

Today we’re talking chairs.  An oft overlooked opportunity for inspiring decor, ceremony and reception chairs are the perfect blank slate for a gorgeous, blooming garland or a unique detail like a floating air plant.  The bride’s and groom’s chairs at the reception provide a sweet photo opportunity; you’ll want to be certain your chairs are just as elegant as the rest of your decor.

Destination Weddings

As the fall approaches are are excited for many new adventures at Easton Events, including a few destination weddings! Here are a handful of helpful hits for planning your own destination wedding:

1. Start planning early. Acquiring a marriage license from some countries can take up to four months.

2. Be flexible while planning your wedding. Some destinations only allow celebrations Monday – Friday.

3. Plan to arrive to your weddings destination early. The bride and groom do not want to be jet lagged before their big day!

4. Try to select a destination that has reasonably priced hotels in the area. If this is not possible, try to compensate for a bit of the hotel room cost, or negotiate for a group rate on airlines or hotels.

5. Great your guest with a warm welcome. How about a cool refreshment and a welcome note to introduce them to your favorite destination.

6. Start the weekend off slow. Throw an informal and casual dinner party for the night of your guests arrival. Serve local cuisine and allow your guests to relax and enjoy the setting.

7. Plan group activities for your guests. Let them experience why the location you choose is so special to you. Make sure the activities are appropriate for all age groups so everyone can attend!

8. End the weekend with an informal brunch so guests can say their goodbyes before heading to the airport.

Zero George, a new boutique hotel about to open in Charleston, was the perfect setting for our little photoshoot this week. From a boxwood runner to a simple place setting the piazza was glowing with the afternoon Charleston light. We are excited to share more images later this month!

It’s that time of year again – as children go back to school, we can’t help but borrow a little inspiration from the classroom.  The chalkboard has been trending in decor, and we’ve rounded up some of our favorites.  The options for chalk art are endless – as a photobooth backdrop, welcome sign, menu, program, or even an invitation!
