Color Me Beautiful: Pretty Peplum

peplum

We are still loving the peplum trend that was popularized this past year, and it seems we’re not alone.  Peplum is showing up in so many 2013 wedding gown collections, and no wonder – the feminine ruffle at the waist is flattering on just about everyone.  Whether a simple lace overlay or a dramatic layered piece, peplum is everywhere!

Color Me Beautiful: Parisian Stripes

Oh, Paris, the city d’amour! There’s just something so classic and romantic about Parisian stripes.  Reminiscent of old black and white films, glamorous ladies, and the streets of France, black and white stripes can add elegance and edge to your wedding.  Since they do tend to make a bold statement, we recommend choosing just a few elements to incorporate this chic pattern into.

Color Me Beautiful: Getting Ready

Getting ready photos can be some of the most glamorous and lovely.  Not as formal as bridal portraits, these photographs often capture a woman relaxed, glancing in the mirror, or having makeup applied.  We love luxurious silk robes or lacey, feminine slips for these moments.

Color Me Beautiful: A Bicycle for Two

The tandem bike has had a resurgence in the past few years, and it’s no wonder: The bicycle for two is a sweet, simple symbol of love.  Two people, moving together in sync, and heading toward a common destination.  We love tandem bikes for engagement sessions, for an adorable bride and groom portrait session after the ceremony, or even for the getaway!  Throw some gorgeous blooms in your basket and tie some ribbon to the seat, and you’ve got yourself a fairytale bicycle ride.

Color Me Beautiful: Color Blocking

premier event planner

The bold hues of summer continue this fall with saturated color blocking everywhere!  We love the combination of two bold solids cozying up together. The key to not looking messy?  Keep it tailored and avoid heavy makeup.

We think this modern trend lends itself well to wedding details, decor, even wedding party attire.  Choose two strong colors, or three if they are within the same color family, and find places within your decor to align them in a striking way.  Keep everything else neutral.  Or incorporate the trend by choosing color blocked shoes, bridesmaid dresses, or paper goods.

Color Me Beautiful: Summer Berries

wedding inspired

The season for ripe, juicy berries is upon us and we are getting inspired by their bright hues and delicious sweetness.  From raspberries atop a five-tiered wedding cake and strawberry-garnished cocktails to baskets of berries as a parting favor, these fruit concoctions will add a fresh, summery flavor to any soiree. Berries aren’t just for eating either; we love them styled in bouquets and centerpieces.

Color Me Beautiful: Woodsy Wedding

Planning an outdoor wedding?  We are loving wood details – especially in unexpected places, like the above wood plank as table runner.  And now many vendors tout beautiful eco-friendly items crafted from reclaimed wood.  These details can bring an organic elegance to the reception set amidst a sunny, green background.

Color Me Beautiful: Dip Dyed Inspiration

What was a budding fad on all the best DIY blogs has now overtaken runways and some of our favorite designers.  Dip-dyeing is the modern tie-dyeing, adding just a bit of bright color to the edges of linens, gowns, candles, even curtains.  For weddings, it seems to be the perfect way to add just a touch of a bold hue to an otherwise neutral palette.
