A Charleston Spring Brunch featured in The Local Palate

I was thrilled to be asked by The Local Palate to be a contributor for the April Issue. Not only do I love this publication, but I am a bit enchanted with the topic at hand – how to host a spring brunch.  I love gathering my nearest and dearest for lingering afternoons full of laughter and stories. I find the trick to a successful brunch is setting a lovely and cozy table paired with a heart warming menu and a festive spring cocktail.

We especially enjoyed developing this story at our boutique hotel in Charleston, S.C.,  Zero George. I recommend picking up a copy of the magazine as it is full of fresh southern food trends and “in the know” regional recommendations.

More of the story and some of my entertaining tips are shared below… Cheers to the first official day of Spring!

Charleston Wedding Inspiration: White Florals

Sometimes it’s best to return to what is simple, what is pure.  And elegant white blooms can do no wrong in our opinion.  With an all-white bouquet or table arrangement, it’s the perfect opportunity to showcase various textures and greenery.  Whether you’re adding in lots of color elsewhere or keeping your palette all ivory, white florals are just gorgeous.

Charleston Wedding Inspiration: Citrus

Spring is almost here and flowers are just beginning to bud, but until things are in full bloom, winter citrus is a beautiful way to dress up a tabletop, bouquet, or cocktail with a punch of pretty color. We used kumquats and citrus poppies for an event last weekend!

Lighting is one of the utmost important details of a wedding.  A beautifully lit chandelier can transform a Sperry tent into a romantic reception.  With chandeliers made in as many styles as there are wedding fashions, you’re sure to find something that suits your taste.

Charleston Wedding Inspiration: Ceremony Backdrops

The ceremony is the most meaningful part of a wedding day, and we love ceremonies that exhibit as much thought and care in their decor as went into the rest of the day.  Arches dripping in florals, dramatic displays of candlelight, unique wood signage, or draped linen against a gorgeous landscape are all perfect backdrops in front of which to say your “I do’s.”
